Clipper launches Germany - UK Combined Delivery Networks :

Clipper Bestaendig has today launched its new German - UK high street delivery network, offering collection of all product types through central distribution centres in Dortmund (Germany) and Rugby (UK), and delivering to any high street in either Germany or the UK.
The service is based around the joint delivery networks of two of the Clipper Group's largest european customers.
The German collection and delivery operation is supported by Woolworths retail stores, and operates from their 400,000 square foot DC in Bonen, Dortmund. The warehouse has around 100,000 sq ft of storage capacity from which Clipper Bestaendig have the licence to operate from. The Bonen DC currently delivers to Woolworths's 175 German and Austrian stores on a daily basis. The site links daily into Clipper Bestaendig's other locations in Berlin, Hockenheim, Munich, Gochsheim and Munchberg, offering real German wide network facilities.
Clipper currently consolidates loads between Germany and the UK for a number of other customers through this network. Daily trunking legs travel between Germany and the UK, departing the country of origin by 16.00 on day 1, and delivering into the country of destination by 12.00 on day 2. This guarantees it will go on the further trunking or delivery networks later that day, to be delivered on day 3.
The UK delivery operation runs from a facility in Rugby, as part of GAP Europe's operations. Similarly to Clipper Bestaendig's tie up with Woolworths, Clipper UK has a commercial agreement to provide UK and Ireland delivery facilities through the GAP fleet 5 days a week.
Commenting on this new business opportunity Tony Mannix, Managing Director of Clipper Logistics, believes that "this represents the obvious progression of Clipper's already successful acquisition of Bestaendig in December 2008. It offers a one stop shop for any retailer in Germany and the UK to use the Clipper Group as its single provider of warehousing and distribution across these countries, or as part of a tried and tested multi user network which many German and UK customers already benefit from."
